Warsaw, Poland
Warsaw is also known as the "phoenix city", as it recovered from extensive damage during World War II, being rebuilt with the effort of Polish citizens. Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland with tremendous history background from 18th - 20th century and World War II On your left, Warsaw mermaid a symbol for Warsaw. Legend says that a mermaid once swam to Warsaw from the Baltic Sea for the love of the Griffin, the ancient defender of the city, who was killed in a struggle against the Swedish invasions of the 17th century. The mermaid, wishing to avenge his death, took the position of defender of Warsaw, becoming the symbol of the city. On your right a beautiful Polish lady. The market place known as old town. Warsaw has two historic districts, called Old Town and New Town. They are adjacent to each other and the newer section is almost as old as the Old Town. The Old Town, called Stare Miasto in Polish, was completely destroyed in World War II but, like Nürnberg, some of it has been rebuilt to look like the original. Without a guide to tell you these things, one would never guess that the market square in Old Town Warsaw is a complete reconstruction. This market square, known as a Rynek in Polish, was thriving way back in the 13th century. On your left, one of the many churches around. My partner in Poland told me, in Warsaw the number of churches are more than schools. On your right the road for the trams. Somehow I capture this picture because of the dimension. This is the favorite place for wedding photos as mentioned by my Polish friend.
